The electronic form of the euro was introduced in January 1999 in 11 European countries (Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, and Finland). Euro notes and coins will be introduced January 1, 2002, alongside national currencies, and by February 28, 2002, the euro will be the official currency for twelve European countries (the aforementioned 11 plus Greece, which joined the euro zone in 2001).

One of the changes called for with the introduction of the electronic form of the euro in 1999 was the need for information systems to handle currency information in relation to the euro according to the European Commission Regulations.

ASG Software Solutions and the Euro

ASG is issuing this statement to assure its customers that the vast majority of its products will not be affected by the implementation of the euro since most products do not deal with currencies. The few ASG products that do handle monetary transactions have been updated to comply with the euro. Additional information on the products affected can be found below.

Definitions

An ASG software product is deemed euro-ready when, provided it is used according to its user documentation, it is capable of accurately receiving, sending, displaying or converting monetary information including the euro in compliance with European Council regulation number 1103/97. Hardware, firmware, middleware, and other software being used in conjunction with ASG products must also conform to this definition.

ASG designates its products as follows:

• Euro ready (date) — the current version is complying with the above definition as of the date shown in parentheses
• Euro ready requiring an update (date) — customers need to update their configuration for the software product to comply with the above definition
• Not euro ready — the current version does not comply yet with the above definition

Euro Ready Products

All the latest product releases listed under the Products section of the ASG Web site (http://www.asg.com/products/productlist.asp) are euro ready with the exception of ASG-Safari ReportWriter, which requires application of an update from ASG (see below).

Euro Ready Products Requiring Application of an Update

• Safari ReportWriter - Upgrade to version 4.1.3 (September 5, 2001) is necessary to be euro ready.
